LōD to Pilot Flexible AI Inference Technology With Dominion Energy
LōD Technologies has been selected for the Dominion Energy Innovation Center's 2026 Accelerate program and will pilot its first-of-a-kind flexible AI inference technology with Dominion Energy, making AI inference workloads grid-responsive in PJM's Dominion territory.
Selected by the Dominion Energy Innovation Center's 2026 Accelerate program, LōD will pilot its first-of-a-kind inference flexibility solution in PJM's Dominion territory.
VANCOUVER, B.C. — July 13, 2026 — LōD Technologies, an energy intelligence company serving data centers and AI compute infrastructure, announced it will pilot its flexible AI inference technology with Dominion Energy, one of North America's largest energy providers and the utility serving the world's largest data center hub. The pilot is the centerpiece of LōD's selection into the 2026 Accelerate program, run by the Dominion Energy Innovation Center (DEIC), the startup accelerator backed by Dominion Energy.
LōD will work directly with Dominion Energy to showcase how AI inference workloads — which are projected to account for up to 80% of AI electricity demand — can flex in response to real-time grid conditions.
A First-of-Its-Kind Solution
This unique solution from LōD is the first of its kind, making AI inference workload grid-responsive: shifting inference compute in real time without sacrificing performance. It unlocks headroom and ensures compliance with new grid stability requirements while maintaining the SLAs that data centers and cloud providers depend on.
For a utility managing some of the fastest data center growth in the US, that flexibility translates directly into grid reliability and demand response capacity. For LōD, it's a chance to prove the model with one of the most recognized utilities in American energy.
Why Now
LōD's pilot with Dominion lands right as utilities and data centers are being asked to make that flexibility work in practice, not just on paper. LōD's platform is built for exactly this: helping data centers participate in demand-flexibility programs by shifting compute and energy use in response to real-time grid conditions, without the manual guesswork or lost uptime that has made both utilities and operators wary of flexibility promises before.
> "Dominion Energy's partnership with the DEIC allows us to identify and support innovative technologies and startups working to change the energy industry. As we work to provide affordable, reliable, and increasingly clean energy to power our customers' lives, implementing these novel technologies uncovered through DEIC Accelerate can assist us."
>
> — Nathan Frost, Vice President, New Business & Customer Solutions at Dominion Energy
> "DEIC's goal is to support entrepreneurs driving the innovations needed to support a clean, growing, and affordable grid, and the companies selected for this year's Accelerate cohort are working to do just that. We're pleased to welcome these innovators working on the cutting edge of important energy issues, including battery storage, grid reliability, energy efficiency, and more."
>
> — Adam Sledd, DEIC's Executive Director
> "Flexibility is quickly becoming a requirement for the next generation of data centers. Regulators, policymakers, and utilities are increasingly calling for large computing loads to become more responsive and better integrated with the grid. LōD's inference flexibility technology is coming to market at exactly the right time, enabling AI workloads to respond to grid conditions without compromising performance, reliability, or service-level agreements. Through our work with Dominion Energy and the Dominion Energy Innovation Center, we aim to demonstrate how compute flexibility can become a practical, measurable, and scalable grid resource."
